It was well-received by the majority of its followers, earning praise from Star Trek fans as well as veteran MMO players. However, just prior to STO's official release last Tuesday, a handful of community-driven issues were consistently popping up in Cryptic's forums and in-game, during its beta-testing phase. [ Star Trek Online - STO ] - Many Free STO Updates Coming Over Next 2 Months

http://www.inquisitr.com/wp-content/star-trekonline.jpgExecutive Producer Craig Zinkievich may have already outlined Cryptic's future plans for Star Trek Online in this week's State of the Game address, but the team has gone one step further and provided even more details on a new "What's Next" page on the official site.

The page provides a list of free updates that Cryptic plans to implement in Star Trek Online over the next two months. The Borg will be invading in three new high-level Episodes, and one of them involves Q transporting you back in time to do him a special favor.

The page also gives details on the upcoming Raid Episodes and Alpha Quadrant changes that range from a new Klingon ship to new ground maps. More information can be found after the jump.

[ Star Trek Online - STO ] - STO Devs Reflect on State of Game Jan 27th, Skill System

http://www.onlinemassivelymultiplayer.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/StarTrekOnlineBorgShip.jpgExecutive Producer Craig Zinkievich has published what will probably be his last State of the Game address before Star Trek Online launches on Feb. 2, and he reveals that the game's first update will "be out before you know it." The update will add more PvP, Klingon exploration content, more ground fleet actions, more ship costume pieces, and more playable species to the MMO.

Zinkievich says that 5-player "raid-i-sodes" will be released every few weeks for the next three months, and a series culminating in an encounter with the Borg queen is on its way. In fact, he states that you can expect to see a lot more Borg in the future.

As if that's not enough information to assimilate (Borg pun!) before the game's launch, Lead Designer Al Rivera has written a post that explains Star Trek Online's skill system. The team wants your questions about the system for its next Ask Cryptic segment.
