Stardate 201202.08

Good news. The U.S.S. Peacemaker is operational once again, and just about battle ready. I was able to oversee the completion of the repairs personally. However, I was not originally called back to Earth for my Defiant Class ship. I was asked to go on a shakedown cruise with one of the new line of Odyssey Class starships. I was not alone. There were Captains and Admirals from across the Federation giving their impressions on the new Class. After giving my full report and was debriefed, I was asked to stay a bit longer because Admiral Quinn wanted to speak to me before I headed back to rendezvous with my Fleet. It was during this waiting period that I watched the engineers put the finishing touches on the Peacemaker.

Some time passed and I was summoned to the Admiral’s office. Admiral Quinn, impressed with our work on the Borg front thus far, offered me command of one of the new Odyssey Class vessels to lead our Fleet against the enemies of the Federation. I was honored, but also a bit hesitant, not necessarily ready to give up the Peacemaker. The next thing the Admiral said erased the apprehension. Because of the size of the new ship, it had a rather extensive docking bay; a docking bay big enough to house a Defiant Class vessel. If I agreed to take command of the Odyssey class ship, he would see to it that the Peacemaker was readily available aboard the ship for use in “hit and run” and escort type missions. I accepted his offer. The Odyssey is a beautiful ship, and will make a fine Flagship for the Hammerfist Fleet. The ship will be released to me shortly and I will receive a special dispensation from the Chief of Starfleet Operations to rename the ship to a more fitting name for our Fleet. The ship being placed under my command is named the U.S.S. Malaya. I will take the naming of the ship under serious consideration.
