    Diablo III - My Observations.

    Hey Guys and Gals -

I've been playing the Beta for Diablo 3 and well.... I think it's one of the biggest dissapointments I ever have had. I still play Diablo 2 (Pre 1.10) With my sons and my uncle , and the game is much more dynamic and customizable. If anyone else has the beta please let me know what you think of it. I'm going to list MY personal pros and cons so far , but the pros will NOT be many

    Pros -
    - Looks Pretty
    - The destructable environments are pretty cool.
    - The crafting system works well and could be good.

    Cons

    - No real character development
No Stats choices or real skill choices of any kind
    - The Story is just recycled , king leoric again, really?
    - Character Classes are crap (Demon hunter and Witch Doctor... really? these classes suck.)
    - Health Globes instead of potions. While there are potions in the game , theyre not immediately useable again, and the health globes really ruin the aura of a dark game to see some bright glowy red globe sitting around. Looks more like Mario than diablo.
    - The mercenary system sucks , I cant even put armor on my merc.
    - there are only 3 skill areas and no trees. (WTF...?)
    - Dumbed down (It seems like the game was dumbed down for the lowest common denominator)

New Wizard "skills" vs. Sorceress skills from over 10 years ago, can we say DE-Evolution.

They did some major changes to the core system. A Q2 release according to the Blizz conference call :(

Thanks for the review. It sounds lame and that is disappointing. I was really looking forward to playing it even though I would have to get a new computer to run it. Maybe turning Diablo into a MMO was just a bad idea to start with.

Don't forget it's still a beta. The beta is quite short and we still haven't tested many of the systems yet. There's another patch coming this weekend to introduce a new skill system.

I haven't been impressed with the demo. It seems that the more I wanted it to be like D2 the more it turned out to be outdated. With the simplification of the skill sets, the elimination of the rune system, lack of character customization, and an emphasis on a real monetary AH, I'm wondering if this is just a pretty gear farming game in the purest sense. Meh. I havent lost hope entirely but I'm not as excited about its release as I once was either.

Played the beta and was completly upset sent blizz a page of complaints (not like they care or anything) and uninstalled. Diablo 2 was probably my favorite game, it had tons of replayability pvp was fun and it hardly ever got old. I was tired of d3 20 mins in. Blizz can just stop making games now...

Remember like Tsunobi this is a beta, it will change. It's by far not a demo of the game itself, as a frequent beta tester, it's amazing how much a game can change in such a short time.

Blizzard has really gone off the deep end, providing for the lowest common denominator. I guess from a business standpoint it's logical to maximize profit by doing so. I used to be excited for Diablo III, I loved Diablo, and to a lesser extent Diablo II, but Diablo III doesn't even register on my GAF-O-Meter. Every bit of news they release is bad new, and give the same old explanation.. "We removed this feature, but it makes it better. Because everyone uses the same build in the end right? Right! It will be cool!" IMO It's insulting.

    I'll be getting Torchlight 2. :)

TL2 looks good, and I'll probably take a look at it once it releases ;) Outlander baby! Unless something drastic happens, I can't see myself purchasing D3.

Did you see that TL devs will be going to ComicCon this year?
