We like to have fun, how's your sense of humor? Not so good? Good? You're a standup comedian you say?
- swtor.wikia.com They have an entry for the Hammerfist Clan SWTOR guild that echos what I look for in a MMO guild.
What was it that made you choose us over those other guilds?
- I've got a very good sense of humor and live by the belief that if you can't laugh at yourself who can you laugh at. I will warn you though that I also inherited my dad's love for puns.
What games have you played if any:
- So far Hammerfist Clan has been the only empire guild on The Shadowlands server that advertises itself as a group of mature people with the goal to provide a friendly, stress free environment in which to enjoy the game.
How do you rate your Ventrilo/Teamspeak use?
- I've played quite a few MMOs over the years. So this entry will be a bit long and I apologize if I ramble on along the way.Final Fantasy XI was my the first MMO I cut my teeth on. I've always been a fan of the Final Fantasy series. So when a friend of mine get into the beta and let me try it out, it didn't take long for me to get hooked. I fell in love with the Bard class (job as they termed it) which I took to level 69. While the grind for levels was the worst of any MMO, I've yet to find another class as technically challenging and as rewarding as that old bard. It was also my first experience with guilds. I joined a guild that was big into the high end monster hunts (the raids were not yet included to FFXI at that point). While I enjoyed taking part in these hunts, the tension and over the top cut throat mentality of that guild (especially the fighting over drop sharing) wore on me. After a few months I decided to move on. I ended up founding a guild of my own to keep in touch with friends. In FFXI, players were not limited to a single guild (linkshell to FFXI). Instead you could switch between guild by equipping a different linkshell. Over the course of the next month this small guild of friends grew in leaps and bounds. It seems I wasn't the only one that was interested in a friendly mature laid back guild that still took part in the high end game content. Before I knew it we had over a 100 members and a guild website. It set the standard of what I look for in MMO guilds. Next I tried out Everquest Online Adventures for a few months. This led to trying out Everquest II, which was hands down better than EOA. I found a good home here with the Aurora guild and got heavy into crafting high end weapons for guild members. I also have played WOW off and on. It is the only MMO that I have stopped playing and then later gone back to after a year+ of absence. I ended up taking my human warlock to 75 (max level at that point) before once again looking for a new MMO.At the same time as playing WOW, I tried out Guild Wars and its expansions. While I enjoyed the lack of a monthly fee to play, it lacked a true MMO community feel. It did have a very fun PVP content. In the end I found myself spending more time in the area than the story line content. It's not a true MMO, but for a while I was heavily involved with the Inner Sphere Wars. This was an attempt to bring the Battletech universe to life as an MMO. It would allow the houses of the Inner Sphere to manage their resources (mechs, dropships, jumpships, etc) and fight over worlds for dominance. The actual battles were done using the old Mech Warrior PC games with dedicated servers. I tried out the Lord of the Rings MMO and played a dwarf tank for a year or so. I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan and was very excited about this when it was released. However the story line never quite grabbed me. I played the newer Final Fantasy XIV MMO last year. I liked the changes the made to the job system and crafting, but it almost felt too easy. Where as FFXI made it impossible to solo past level 7 unless you were a red mage, FFXIV seemed to be without any content oriented for a group.
Please tell us a little about yourself, aside from gaming. Perhaps some hobbies, about your work, favorite story etc.

Enter the extra-credit phrase:
- I'm a 38 year old software engineer and father of an incredible three year old son. Least when he isn't using a sharpie to draw all over the wall and himself:) Word to the wise, invest in the mr clean magic erasers. They cleaned the walls with no problems. If only they made something like it for cleaning children's hands, feet and legs.....oh well. When I'm not chasing after my son, I love to spend my free time playing board games, reading sci-fi books, and playing video games. Aside from the already mentioned Lord of the Rings series, my favorite books/stories is the Black Company (Glen Cook). It follows a mercenary band set in a dark world. Imagine the land of middle earth if Sauron reclaimed his ring, but without elves and hobbits.
And last but not least, do you have any questions for us?
- I love HFC !
- Do you also have a Repulic side guild? I'll eventually want to try out the other side for the story line.

Unfortunately no. After I finished my application, I saw that there was an entry from yesterday that was declined as the recruitment on the empire side was closed to those without Friends and Family.

No longer closed and changed to a republic application.

Nice to see you came to your senses and chose the Republic instead.I'll echo Sillious's comments about your application. We appreciate the level of detail, it really helps us start the process of getting to know you.
1. Does Boltana refer to a small city in Spain and if so, may I ask why?
2. You mention leading your own guild in the past. Other than not being able to give the time commitment because of your family would there be any other reasons you would not want to lead a guild in the future?
3. I think the Fist has a lot of things you say you're looking for in a guild. Do you think you might stick with Hammerfist even as you and the community move to other games?
4. Who are some of the sci-fi writers you enjoy reading?
Don't panic.
Greetings Boltana!
Very thorough app!
But I can always find more questions!!!
Q&A:
What from your other MMO's would you bring to TOR if you could?
Favorite board games?
Are you looking at HFC as a future gaming home? (the LoTRO team is fantastic too!)
//I read you're welcome that you've already made a character on Canderous. Just ask for an invite!

Favorite dungeon in WoW?
Its sad but the mind isn't what it used to be. So I can't remember a lot of the WOW dungeons. Although I did like the early one with the pirate ship at the end. Who doesn't want to capture a pirate ship:) The crimson <forget lastname> instance on the other hand was a grind.
Favorite Cheeseburger and from where (and ixnae on the old 'my cheeseburger is the best' thingie...restaurant please)?
Fudruckers use to make the best burger hands down. Least until they opened a five guys here in town. Those burgers are so addictive, it makes you wonder what is in the burger:)
What sort of books do you enjoy?
I tend to read mostly SciFi and Fantasy. I've read all the Valdamer, Black Company, Battle Tech (and the renamed Mech Warrior), Black Company, PI Garret (great fantasy detective series), Dragonlance, The Lost Fleet, Horus Heresy, Game of Thrones and Nightside series.
