What was it that made you choose us over those other guilds?
- I hail from the planet Sarcamia in the galaxy of Wisecrakitoa... and I have a bad pun habit. Like, really bad.
What games have you played if any:
- I really liked that the focus was on the fact that many of gamers who are currently involved have real lives outside of the game. Also, the scope of the community intrigues me. I found myself being antisocial in-game... which seemed to defeat the purpose of playing an MMO. This seemed the best, casual, fit for my gaming habits.
How do you rate your Ventrilo/Teamspeak use?
- Star Trek Online is the first MMO that has sucked me in. I tried D&D online (since I was huge AD&D nerd in high school), WoW, and LoL but it was STO that seemed to really grab my by the tribbles, ahem, so to speak.
Please tell us a little about yourself, aside from gaming. Perhaps some hobbies, about your work, favorite story etc.
- 1. Never - What is this Vent you speak of?
Enter the extra-credit phrase:
- I ran a custom airbrush... thing for a few years but it never took off. I'm usually artistically inclined but lately I've been focusing on working and relaxing after. I dabble in video editing and have it in my head that I am a movie maker though I've only put together one short film and it isn't done. Anything that requires creativity and I'm in.
And last but not least, do you have any questions for us?
- Sir, I know for a fact there is no candy in that van. Is that it?
- I was promised dancing ladies. I see no dancing ladies. I am sure I can live with this.
I have the dancing ladies.
Just a few Q's for ya. What other fleet in game are you involved in? What career is your officer? Do you also play KDF? Lastly, are you a Trekkie or did the game get you involved in the Trek universe?
-For the Empire, For the Clan-
Welcome to the forums!
Nice application.
So, what's your favorite aspect of the game?
And yes there is candy in the van. You just have to come a bit closer and see for yourself.
Hey, thanks for the positives and for the questions. Let's see, we'll just go down the list to make it easier:
popejnpl, 1) I honestly can't remember the fleet name. I have a terrible time with names as it is and it is one that has difficult spelling. I joined and found that there was zero to none by way of activity. 2) I went with tactical for my first character. I am a cruiser fan but will be saving my dil to try out an escort. 3) I have a new KDF character (I haven't even gotten into the ship yet) but thought I would focus on getting a strong understanding of the game before committing to that char anymore (since I see now there are a lot of things I would liked to have changed in my fed toon). 4) I wouldn't say I was a trekkie, but I watched quite a lot of TNG, Voyager and even a little DS9. I am a fan of the universe but not obsessed with it (hope that doesn't hurt my chances).
CNova; Thanks for the info in getting me here. I can tell I will like this site even if I don't end up in the guild. Now your question: my favorite aspect of the game is the space combat. It reminds me of Sid Meier's Pirates! game. I was so hooked on that game. Nothing better than broadsiding some navy with some grape shot.
azndood79: I have about three weeks into the game. I have two characters (fed and KDF, both aliens, and I should have done some research before picking their traits...) Jar al'bul (Level 31 tac captain) and... I forget haha. I just started the KDF so I don't even remember her name. I seem to be decent at it, though I haven't done an STF (and honestly I'm not even sure where to find them yet) mainly because my laptop sort of sucks and it gets super bogged down just doing the Gorn minefield PVE mission. I have some tax return money going to a decent quad core that should change that though. I spent some money on the game (duty officers and extra Bo slots... seems I like collecting those) and plan on spending a little more to get a ship once I hit VA.
If it helps my chances any, I am so interested in joining this fleet I am writing this just after work rather than log in to get my free Odyssey ship :)
Pirates! Was a kick ass game! Still have the game for NES. Just for that you get my vote.
Thanks for the awesome response, tophatpainter.
Just keep an eye on this thread, because other guildies may have some more questions for you. In the meantime, feel free to browse the forums and check out our STO community forums. A lot of good game info there.
BTW, if you are a cruiser guy, the Odyssey is an awesome ship. It is very very very slow though. Still a beauty.
Admiral Midnight of The Hammerfist Fleet.
Star Trek Online Team Leader, Fleet Commanding Officer
Will do. I did the ship quest and you couldn't be more right. Suuuuuuuper slow. Actually, just after that I did the Doomsday Device mission and flew around in the Bird of Prey and I am now starting to re-think this whole cruiser thing. My current ship is just too slow and sluggish. Might have to get an advanced escort just to skill up enough to make the cruiser fun for me again. Glad I got the free ship since they aren't handing any out to VA's. I figure I'll play this character for a while and learn from the noob mistakes I made.
Well there really aren't too many noob mistakes that aren't irreversible. Besides picking bad inherent traits during char creation, which is near impossible since you are building from the same base as everyone else, there is nothing you can't respec into or buy a new ship for.
That's a very good point. I am excited to try out the different officer types now that I am learning a little more about their abilities. I see myself spending more money on ships, but I've really been enjoying the game so it seems a fair trade off considering the free nature of it. I really like that there are no real wrong answers and I can figure out what my play style is and have it work. I'm curious as to what kind of officer your primary is and what ship builds you like.
