11. Case and Power Supply
I love my case and the look and feel of it it. It goes well with the decor in my office/man-cave. My one complaint is that it has USB 2.0 ports on the front, and as I've said before I can fix that by using a USB 3.0 hub on my desk for those rare times I need the 5Gbps throughput.

A good friend of mine gives this piece of advice: Since most of what you do is staring at a screen, put most of your money into the video card and the monitor to get exactly what you need. It's hard to deny that logic.

9. Keyboard, Mouse and Sound

My old Logitech G15 is showing signs of age, so it will need to be replaced. Keyboards come in two flavors: mechanical or membrane (standard). Standard keyboards are the normal ones that we're used to. They click, but really what they are doing is causing a piece of rubber to compress on a piece of plastic which in turn closes a circuit and registers as a key press. 8. Networking and USB
This is going to be a short one.
The most obvious thing to look for in a networking card is compatibility with your router. Der. If you have an N-band router, you will want to make sure you have an N-band card. Beyond that, some people have brand loyalty. I am a Linksys fanboy, but others like D-Link or Netgear. Again, this is purely emotional - I've never had a problem with Linksys products, so I'm inclined to keep using them.

7. Graphics Cards
Now it's time to turn to the main reason for my system upgrade - having a kick-but graphics card. I've already selected a motherboard that allows for PCIe 3.0 bus anda CPU that will support sending commands over that bus faster. Now let's put an engine in front of that transmission, shall we?
